How did you get into sports and Goalball?
I started playing goalball when I went to high school at the W. Ross Macdonald School for the Blind in Brantford. I first played just recreationally, then quickly decided I wanted more out of it and wanted to get to compete for Canada.
How has your experience been as a Canadian Paralympic Team athlete?
Being a Paralympian has been such a cool experience. The opportunities that I have been given have been incredible. I’ve traveled and made friends from all over the world, and get to compete for Canada against amazing athletes.
How has your time in Paris been so far?
We have been so busy with practice, but our time in Paris has been amazing! A great experience we’ve had so far, was teaching groups of kids about goalball and playing a game with them to show what the sport is like.
What have been your favourite things about the city of Paris?
Getting to have a practice with kids and the public was a lot of fun. Kids are always the best to work with because they are so curious and joyful! We also had an afternoon off from training where we went and saw the Arc De Triomphe, which has the Paralympic Agitos hung on it.
Do you have any favourite Farm Boy products? If yes, what are they?
I have two main things from Farm Boy that I like. The first, is the variety of fruits and veggies. I like trying new things and often find something adventurous to enjoy. Next up, are the delicious cookies that always make the top of my list!
Do you have any tips or advice for other athletes?
Don’t give up. Keep trying and pushing for what you want and don’t let others stand in your way!

How did you get into sports and Goalball?
At a young age I always loved sports and as I got older, I realized it was going to be harder because of my vision. I had a low vision teacher that put me in touch with someone who was in charge of goalball in PEI (where I am originally from) and the rest is history!
How has your experience been as a Canadian Paralympic Team athlete?
It’s always a huge honour to represent my country and show that people with disabilities can be great at sports too.
How has your time in Paris been so far?
Paris is a wonderful city! We’ve had time for a little sightseeing, but have been mainly focusing on training and being ready for our opening game.

Do you have any favourite Farm Boy products? If yes, what are they?
We buy a lot of our sausages from the Butcher Shop. It’s great because between my husband and kids, we can all get a flavour that we like. The variety of fruits and vegetables is also great!
Do you have any tips or advice for other athletes?
Don’t be afraid to try something new, it’s ok to not be great right at the start. I didn’t give goalball a fair chance when I first learned about it at the age of 12. Now I’m a five-time Paralympian and Captain for the Canadian Paralympic Goalball Team.
