Guaranteed to be a hit for any occasion, they handcraft gourmet French-style macarons infused with locally inspired flavours. 

After leaving a successful career in the IT industry, Lori Limarilli founded Petits Macarons in Ottawa, Ontario, in 2011 to pursue her lifelong dream of owning a baking business. After perfecting her macaron recipes, Petits Macarons quickly gained a loyal following by catering special events such as baby showers, birthdays, weddings, and more. A pivotal moment came in 2013, when the business partnered with Farm Boy. Now a staple at our in-store Bake Shop, this partnership helped Lori’s creations reach both new and existing customers.

Today, they’re a beloved feature at every Farm Boy location, offering a decadent selection of macarons that satisfy your sweet tooth and add a touch of sophistication to any occasion. With customers across Ontario enjoying their crave-worthy creations, Petits Macarons launched an online retail shop in 2015 and expanded their storefront at 1758 Montreal Road in Ottawa. At their brick-and-mortar location, you’ll find a variety of sweet and savoury pastries, treats, and more—all baked fresh in-house.

What are Macarons? 

Also known as French or Parisian macarons, these chewy, sweet, and delicately moist sandwich cookies are a true confectionery delight. Unlike macaroons, which share some ingredients, bakers make macarons from egg whites, almond flour, and sugar. Moreover, their bright colours and striking appearance feature perfectly round, smooth tops and slightly puffed “feet” at the base. Typically, chefs fill them with flavoured buttercreams, curds, ganaches, jellies, and more.

These elegant treats trace their origins to almond cookies first made in Venetian monasteries in Italy in the 1400s. Macarons arrived in France via royal marriage in 1533. They did not evolve into the sandwich-style cookies we know until the mid-to-late 1800s. In 1930, famed chef Pierre Desfontaines is credited for inventing the colourful versions in Paris. The perfect canvas for vibrant, refined flavours, they often appear in regional variations that highlight high-quality local ingredients.

Vanilla Bean Macaron

Blueberry Cheesecake Macaron 

This blueberry treat brings the real deal: tangy cream cheese and sweet blueberries whipped into a velvety buttercream filling.
