10 Spooky Halloween Snack Ideas

Cobweb Dip 3 Ways

For an easy, spooky, Halloween-inspired dip, you simply need a darker dip for your base and a lighter ingredient with which to pipe your cobweb. Some options we like are: Ketchup with a Farm Boy™ Yellow Mustard web; Farm Boy™ Spicy Black Bean Dip with a Farm Boy™ 14% Sour Cream web; or, for a sweeter option, Farm Boy™ Chocolate Hazelnut Spread with a web made of white icing.

To make this spiderweb dip, you can pipe the web directly onto a bowl of dip. Or, if you’re not as confident in your web piping skills, pipe a series of concentric circles onto your dip. Then, use a toothpick to drag out the lines into a spiderweb pattern. Serve with chips, fresh veggies, or cut fruit, depending on what flavour combo you choose.

Mummy Dogs

You’ll have dinner all wrapped up with the help of these spooky snacks! Our gluten-free All Beef Frankfurters are made with quality ingredients for a rich, smoky, beefy taste. To wrap your mummies, use a pizza cutter or knife to cut thawed Phyllo Pastry into long strips. Then, wrap the franks in the pastry dough and bake according to instructions until crispy and golden.

Just before serving, use a toothpick dipped in Farm Boy™ Yellow Mustard to dot spooky mummy eyes on your finished franks. For dipping, we recommend our above-mentioned cobweb dip made with ketchup and mustard or any of our made-in-house BBQ Sauces.

Wormy Cupcakes

Craft a simple, spooktacular dessert using just three items. This kid-friendly treat is full of creepy crawlies and lots of chocolate flavour. To make, crush up our Chocolate Brownie Crispy Cookies and generously sprinkle them onto our Vegan Chocolate Cupcakes. (For fuller coverage, you can dip the cupcakes icing side-down into the cookie crumbs.)

Then, poke some holes into the cupcake and fill them with delicious gummy worms. Alternatively, you could simply lay the worms on top to achieve the same effect. Whichever way you decorate, everyone is sure to enjoy this creepy, chocolatey treat!

Jack-o’-Lantern Bean Dip

A stellar dip is always a party must-have, and Halloween is no exception. We’ve used our Spicy Black Bean Dip for this creepy creation. Made fresh by us with simple ingredients and our own recipe, it’s a hearty dip with a little kick thanks to chipotle pepper and smoked paprika.

To make this dip Halloween-ready, carve an orange bell pepper into the shape of a jack-o’-lantern. Remove the top and scoop out the seeds before carving in a face of your choice. You could also make a fleet of spooky, dip-filled jack-o’-lanterns: fill one with our gruesomely green made-in-house Guacamole, another one with our beloved fan favourite Eda-Yummy Spicy Kale Edamame Dip, and a final pepper pumpkin with a scary-coloured Organic Beet Hummus. We like to serve this spooky spread with our Blue Corn Tortilla Chips. Locally made and gluten-free, they’re just unusual enough to match the Halloween theme.

Monster Mouth Cookie Sandwiches

Have you ever had a cookie that could take a bite out of you? These monster mouth cookies may do just that! Grab your favourite Homestyle Cookies from our Bake Shop and cut them in half. Spread each half with Farm Boy™ Raspberry Jam to mimic “blood”. Then, arrange mini marshmallows along the edges of one cookie half for monster teeth. (We’ve also trimmed a couple marshmallows to look like vampire fangs.)

Then, top with the second half of your cookie and serve! Repeat with as many cookies as you’d like for a truly sweet spread.

Cheese Ball Pumpkin

Less spooky and more autumnal, this easy appetizer would be just as at home on a spooky spread as a fall-themed charcuterie board.

To begin, pick up a Farm Boy™ Fiesta Cheese Ball. It’s made fresh in-store with velvety cream cheese, Farm Boy™ Fiesta Cheese Blend, cheddar cheese, green onion, and Farm Boy™ Mild Salsa. It’s also the perfect orange hue for a classic Halloween pumpkin. To achieve the pumpkin look, tightly wrap your cheese ball in plastic wrap. Then, wind some string around your plastic-wrapped cheese ball to resemble the grooves in a real pumpkin. (You could also use rubber bands if that’s easier.)

Place the cheese ball in the fridge for at least two hours and up to overnight. Then, carefully cut off the string or rubber bands and unwrap your cheese ball. Finish by carving the stem off a bell pepper and placing on top. (Alternatively, you could use a pretzel rod.) Serve with Farm Boy™ Double Baked Pita Crackers.

Cheesy Witches’ Brooms

For a wholesome and nutritious snack the kiddos are sure to love, make these cheesy witches’ brooms. To begin, grab your favourite pack of Farm Boy™ Cheese Slices or string cheese. For cheese slices, cut them in half and slice strips along one edge, going only halfway up. For string cheese, cut your string in half and snip strips into the bottom of each half, going only halfway up.

Place a pretzel stick at one end of your cheese slice and roll the slice around the base of the pretzel. Fasten the rolled cheese with a strand of fresh chive. For string cheese, poke the pretzel into the top of the string cheese and tie with a strand of rolled chive. Then, fly away with your delicious festive snack!

Sweet & Salty Spiders

Halloween is definitely a sweet season, but sometimes you need some salt, too. These sweet and salty spiders are a deliciously easy way to have the best of both worlds. Snap off some of our Twisted Pretzels to create arched spider legs. Then, poke your pretzels into any of our Farm Boy™ Donuts. Soft, light, and slightly chewy, we like using the filled varieties for this snack for extra gruesomeness.

Finish by decorating with some candy eyes or mini chocolate chips fastened with icing to give your spooky spiders faces. Create an army of spiders using any of our many donut flavours, including seasonal choices like Apple Pie Flavoured, Pumpkin Pie Flavoured, and S’mores.

Spooky Fruit Platter

If you think about it, fruit is really nature’s candy, and a great way to add some fibre and vitamins to what’s sure to be a sweet-stacked night.

Using clever edible decorations, make: banana ghosts with chocolate chip or raisin eyes; peeled kiwi Frankensteins with melted chocolate faces; monster mouths from apple slices, peanut butter, and mini marshmallows; strawberry yogurt cobweb dip with a vanilla (or plain) yogurt web; clementine or tangerine pumpkins; and mummy strawberries drizzled with melted white chocolate with dark chocolate eyes.
