Maple Cookie Affogato

One of the easiest and most decadent desserts has got to be the Italian Affogato. The word affogato means “drowned”, so this is simply gelato or ice cream with hot, strong espresso poured over it. It is one of the quickest, yet most satisfying desserts after a nice dinner with friends or family. It will take you all of 10 minutes to make.

You can use our vanilla ice cream to make this, but we are switching things up a bit by using our Maple Cookie Caramel Swirl Gelato for a seasonal and delicious spin on this classic.

If you feel like it, add a shot of liqueur to your affogato – Kahlúa works well. Serve with a spoon, and after the gelato is gone, you can simply sip your creamy, slightly sweet espresso.


  1. Scoop gelato into two small glasses or cups.
  2. Pour hot expresso or strong coffee over gelato.
  3. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
  4. Serve immediately with biscotti.


  • 4 scoops Maple Cookie Caramel Swirl Gelato
  • 2 shots espresso or strong brewed coffee
  • 1 tsp Farm Boy™ Dark Chocolate (80 g) shaved, for garnish
  • Farm Boy™ Almond Biscotti (160 g) for serving
