Beer-Braised Sausages with Sauerkraut

Beer-braised sausages with sauerkraut is a rustic and comforting dish that features succulent sausages simmered in beer until tender. The sausages soak up the rich, savoury flavours. The sausages are cooked alongside tangy sauerkraut, which adds a delightful zing to the dish, creating a balance in your mouth.

Directions

  1. In Dutch oven, heat olive oil and cook bacon until almost crispy.
  2. Add onion and garlic and cook over medium low heat until golden.
  3. Add sauerkraut, beer, broth, sausages and salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Bring to a boil, then turn down to simmer and cook, partially covered for 30-40 minutes, until liquid is reduced by half.
  5. Serve with Farm Boy™️ Mustard and roasted potatoes.

  • 2 Tbsp Farm Boy™ Extra Virgin Olive Oil (1 L)
  • 150 g (1 cup) Farm Boy™️ Double-Smoked Bacon chopped
  • 2 large onions sliced (4 cups)
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 cups Farm Boy™ Sauerkraut (796 ml) drained
  • 1 1/2 cups beer
  • 1 cup Farm Boy™ Organic Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 6-8 Farm Boy™️ Octoberfest Sausages
  • salt and pepper to taste
