It’s no wonder that cultures all over the world embrace cooking food on a barbecue or grill. From outdoor gas and charcoal barbecues, to indoor grills, this cooking method is accessible to almost anyone and is relatively easy to do. Grilling maximizes flavour through caramelization and browning, and the cooking style typically uses lots of fresh ingredients – yum! While each country uses slightly different ingredients and seasonings, the outcome and reward are the same: a flavour-packed meal that brings people together!

While travelling may be the best way to get an authentic BBQ experience, we can definitely infuse similar flavours into our own summer meals and gatherings. Pairing Farm Boy’s seasonal, local ingredients and products make creating a unique and flavourful BBQ experience a breeze.

Here are some delicious globally inspired BBQ menu ideas to help bring a world of flavour to your BBQ or indoor grill this summer.

1. Germany

German sausages

When we think of German BBQ, Bratwurst may immediately come to mind. But know that marinated pork steaks and kabobs of all kinds are also popular.

4. Spain

octopus salad

While Spain has a rich diversity of food offerings I often think of their outstanding grilled seafood and vegetables – particularly in Barcelona. Known as asado or parrilla, Spanish BBQ embraces what’s in season and locally available. Flavoured simply and grilled to perfection, Spanish BBQ is about showcasing the quality of each ingredient.

On the BBQ Menu:

Farm Boy™ Garden Fresh Gazpacho

Serve in chilled bowls drizzled with Farm Boy™ Spanish Olive Oil.

Potato Packets with Farm Boy™ Spanish Olive Oil

You’ll need 3 Yukon Gold Potatoes, cut into 1” pieces, drizzled with 1 tbsp Spanish olive oil. Wrap potatoes in heavy-duty aluminum foil and cook on the BBQ for 25 minutes (flipping occasionally) until cooked through.

The types of Indian cuisine are as plentiful and complex as the flavours and seasonings that are used. One thing is certain – the aromas created by cooking with these flavours on an outdoor grill are intoxicating.

On the BBQ Menu:

Warm over indirect heat on the BBQ (top rack or off to the side) and serve with Farm Boy™ Sweet Mango Chutney.
