|Combine all the filling ingredients except the butter for the filling. Turn into 8-by-8 inch baking pan. Dot with butter.
Preheat the oven to 375F or 350F if the baking dish is glass.
For the Batter, combine all the batter ingredients in a medium bowl. Beat with a wooden spoon until smooth. Drop in 9 portions over filling, spacing evenly. Batter will spread during baking.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until apple is tender and crust is golden.
