Eggnog Challah French Toast

Farm Boy Organic Eggnog is here! The best thing about the holiday season. Hands down. Have you tried it? If you have, then you know why we are getting so excited about it. If you haven’t…what are you waiting for? The siren call of this eggnog is strong.

Let me tell you what I love about it: it’s thick and creamy, sweet, rich, and I can put it in my milk frother and add it to espresso to make an (admittedly decadent) eggnog latte. Of course it does well with a splash of spiced rum or brandy. You can use it in dessert-making, like this eggnog cheesecake, this eggnog rice pudding, this eggnog custard, or even eggnog ice cream


My favourite thing to do with it is make french toast. Oh. My. Goodness. If you are looking for a showstopper brunch dish for company or a special weekend breakfast for your kids, this is it. Our soft, fluffy Rideau Bakery challah gets dredged in eggnog and wintery spices, then grilled until golden on the outside and custardy inside.


You can top this with anything you like…we are partial to jewel-like pomegranate arils and a cloud of whipped cream, maybe finished off with a drizzle of Farm Boy Maple Syrup.


Eggnog Challah French Toast

Serves 2-4


4 thick slices (around 1”) loaf Rideau Bakery Egg Bread or Holiday Bread

2 eggs 

1 ½ cups Farm Boy Organic Egg Nog

½ cup milk (any kind)

Cinnamon and nutmeg, to taste

1 tbsp butter, for pan

Optional: whipping cream, pomegranate arils, Farm Boy Maple Syrup

Whisk eggs, milk, eggnog, and spices in a wide, shallow bowl

Slice challah into 4 thick slices (about 1” thick)

Dip challah into egg mixture, coating both sides and allowing to soak a little

In a buttered, medium-hot pan, lay slices of challah and grill 2 minutes each side, or until golden 

Remove from pan, top with your favourite toppings, and enjoy!
