WORK DESCRIPTION
The Receiver is responsible for receiving and storage of incoming products, monitoring the proper receipt and rotation of stock, and for maintaining the conditions of the receiving, storage and cooler facilities. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy vision, mission, and the Farm Boy Way.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receives and unloads all deliveries from loading dock and stores in appropriate coolers in accordance with established guidelines, handling all products with maximum care to minimize damage and/or spoilage
2. Maintains receiving equipment and receiving, cooler and storage facilities in a safe, clean and organized fashion
3. Ensures that all products are properly received assuring that invoices and packing slips are efficiently compared to products received and subsequently forwarded to the proper individuals
4. Reports any quantity discrepancies or poor quality of product to the responsible manager
5. Disposes of all collected garbage immediately
6. Handle merchandise returns (including skids and bins) as requested by the Department Managers
7. Ensure that receiving areas are secured at all times and that employees and visitors do not gain entrance or exit via these areas
8. Ensures that the receiving system is properly administered, making appropriate use of provided resources and equipment
9. Ensures that all suppliers and drivers are treated in a reasonable and fair fashion
10. Strictly observes adherence to all health and safety procedures and dress code to ensure safety of staff and surroundings
11. Reports any dangerous situations to the Store Manager for corrective action; i.e. incorrect stacking of pallets, physical damage to building or work tools
12. May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis
The following skill sets are required for this position:
Typically requires up to 6 months of experience in a related position, preferably working with perishable goods
Superior time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Ability to work from directives with little supervision
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Ability to operate a lift truck and knowledge of receiving/cooler facilities and equipment
Fluency in both official languages shall be considered an asset
Strong orientation for customer service and team participation
Superior standards of cleanliness and service
